WOMEN AND GIRLS' EQUALITY PANEL
The Greater Manchester Equality Panels were established in late 2020 to advise, support and challenge Greater Manchester’s political leaders and policy makers to tackle discrimination and disadvantage that cause injustice and inequality, and to champion Greater Manchester as an inclusive city-region. The Women and Girls’ Equality Panel is one of seven equality panels established in December 2020 and funded by the GMCA.
THE PANEL WORKS WITH THE GMCA AND PARTNERS TO:
-
Provide insight into Greater Manchester’s diverse communities, enabling political leaders and public bodies to listen and engage in a more targeted and effective way.
-
Communicate key messages to our communities as trusted sources.
-
Co-design policies, programmes and strategies to ensure they work effectively for communities.
-
Support an asset-based approach, highlighting new opportunities (and challenges) for positive collaboration that build on the resources and strengths within our communities.
A CLEAR VISION
The Panel aims to establish a clear vision for women and girls by using its knowledge, expertise, and networks to understand and address the issues and inequalities affecting their lives.
The Panel is comprised of women and girls across Greater Manchester who are willing to contribute their expertise and experiences. Members are from a diverse range of backgrounds, sectors, organisations, and are committed to ensuring that the viewpoints of women and girls from a cross-sector of society are represented. For further information on our members please consult the GMCA Panel website.
THE PANEL HAS FOUR MAIN AREAS OF INTEREST:
-
(Ending) Violence Against Women and Girls.
-
Employment.
-
Health.
-
Gender mainstreaming.
