How we run our charity
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The Board of Trustees is a key component of the charity, ensuring it remains focused on its priorities, mission, and goals, while preparing for continued growth and development.
THE EXECUTIVE TEAM
The executive team is responsible for the day-to-day work across all teams at Manchester Women's Aid. They ensure each team's focus aligns with the charity's aims, maintains a high-quality, survivor-centred approach, and fosters collaborations with like-minded local organisations.
OUR MISSION AND VISION
Our purpose
Our purpose is clear: to provide support and safety for those experiencing domestic abuse. We support adults and children across Manchester by providing emotional support, group work, community support and refuge, helping them to take the brave steps towards freedom and a chance to live free from fear. We continually work towards the best outcome for our survivors, to get them to safety, independence and long-term recovery.

How we create change
Our focus is on transforming the lives of those impacted by domestic abuse through safe spaces, whether that is refuge accommodation or support from our caseworkers, IDVAs or weekly community drop-ins.
We advocate for survivors by challenging systems, collaborating with local organisations, and delivering training to workplaces, individuals and schools on domestic abuse, sexual violence and, more widely, Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).

Monitoring our work
Like any organisation or business, we must ensure our services and teams have clear lines of accountability to maintain alignment with best practice.
From induction through to becoming a full-time member of staff, our training programme includes Case Management and Recording, delivered by expert trainers. Our Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (M&E Officer) also provide training to ensure a thorough understanding of internal systems and guidelines for efficient case management.
Across Manchester Women's Aid, we use an integrated monitoring and reporting hub. These systems form part of the Women's Aid Federation of England (WAFE) outcomes-focused national database, which was co-produced with survivors. We regularly produce service manager reports and service evaluations, and publish an annual impact report.

OUR FUTURE
In a constantly shifting funding landscape, with new demands being placed on our services and emerging challenges facing the sector, our vision remains unwavering. We believe that everyone deserves a future free from abuse. Our focus remains on creating these pathways for the women, children and wider communities we support, through empowering, survivor-led services.
Manchester is a unique place, filled with a passionate community. We want our future to be defined by collaboration and partnership, so that people across Manchester can come together, understand the issues we face, and continue making a meaningful impact for a future free from abuse.
